If you ever visit L.A. I highly recommend a trip to the Getty Center. Not only do you get to ride a tram and view an extremely beautiful collection of artwork from the thirteenth through the twentieth centuries, but they have a "sketching room" where you can sit down and draw various sculptures and paintings in a lovely casual setting. They even provide you with materials and paper! Did I mention all of this is free? Yes sir, the Getty Center. Best deal in town.
