Yeon Ave

When fire is a flash in the neon pan,
and you're chasing a wonderful carrot on a wonderful string,
you find yourself on Yeon Ave,
in the rain,
standing next to a paint factory,
with a poorly sculpted statue out front paying tribute to its workers.
Its not until you wander to the caged bridge next to the highway,
where someone spray painted "it's Georgia here",
that you smile
because it is.

I'm eager to analyze this piece of writing, because I find it hilarious. The quirky sense of humour jumps out instantly, but I knew there was more to it than that, so I reread it a bunch of of times, and now I get it....It's the RHYTHM. I'm still not sure what it is ABOUT that rhythm that is so inherently funny, but I know it's there....something about the length of the phrases as contrasted to one another, the switches between internal patterns...Do more stuff like this, please!

*Sound, too - even without saying the words out loud, one naturally hears what they sound like.

This post, I find myself reading it again half a year later....it's still an amazing antidepressant.
