Why do I make everyone's head too big?!!! Elmer's head is too big and his lips are out too far. I know when I was drawing his face I was thinking of the fact he was being pulled- so that might have something to do with it. At least Elmer looks freaked out.
I also want to add that we are much more conservative in many ways now than we were 60 years ago. This used to be perfectly appropriate for children. I cannot imagine a children's cartoon now with this kind of behavior in it (contrarily, adult cartoons seem to be anything goes as far as questionable moral material. Are we so messed up that we feel the need to shelter our children at all costs?). Why are we so afraid of playful innocence?
